A growing international shipping business is seeking an experienced Senior Shipping Operator / Assistant Operations Manager to support its expanding tanker operations team.
Reporting to the Shipping Operations Manager / Head of Shipping, you will play a key role in the operational and commercial management of an owned tanker fleet, acting as a critical link between Operations, Chartering, Technical teams, vessel stakeholders, and external partners. This position will also deputize for the Shipping Operations Manager on routine matters and offers a clear pathway toward broader operational and commercial responsibility.
Key Responsibilities
Manage tanker vessel operations from fixture through voyage completionCoordinate closely with Chartering, Technical, Masters, Agents, Terminals, and other stakeholdersMonitor voyage performance and ensure charter party obligations are metHandle laytime calculations, demurrage, freight claims, and voyage reportingEnsure operational documentation and reporting are accurate and timelySupport the day-to-day management of the owned tanker fleetAssist in mentoring and coordinating junior operational staffDeputize for the Shipping Operations Manager when required
Requirements
3-5+ years’ experience in tanker shipping operations or post-fixture executionStrong understanding of vessel operations, voyage execution, and charter party termsExperience with laytime, demurrage, freight claims, and stakeholder coordinationProficient in IMOS (Veson) or similar shipping platformsKnowledge of IMO, MARPOL, CII, EU ETS, and sanctions complianceExposure to SIRE 2.0, PSC, CDI, and Oil Major vetting requirements is advantageousSeagoing tanker experience is highly desirableAbility to manage multiple voyages in a fast-paced environment
