Job Summary

The Healthcare Assistant will support the Nursing Department in providing safe and

effective patient care, assisting licensed healthcare professionals with delegated clinical

activities, patient monitoring, patient coordination and daily clinic operations, in

accordance with the DOH Scope of Practice.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist nurses and other licensed healthcare professionals with delegated patient

care activities.

• Support patients with activities of daily living, including mobility, positioning,

personal hygiene, feeding and general comfort.

• Measure and record basic vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature, pulse

and oxygen saturation, and report abnormal findings.

• Monitor and document patient intake and output and report any concerns to the

supervising nurse.

• Prepare patient rooms, equipment and supplies and maintain cleanliness and

infection control standards.

• Assist with patient transportation, appointments, follow-ups and coordination

between departments.

• Guide patients through their clinic visits and support a positive patient experience.

• Maintain accurate patient care documentation and ensure confidentiality.

• Report changes in patient condition, incidents and safety concerns to the

supervising healthcare professional.

• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Head of Department (HOD), within the

scope of the role.

• All other duties as assigned by HOD related to patient care and other duties.
