Description
Design, develop and maintain backend services and APIs using Python.Build and own services supporting trade execution and related workflows.Integrate with brokerage platforms and other third-party APIs.Build safe and reliable external integrations with appropriate authorisation, failure handling and traceability.Design and optimise PostgreSQL schemas and queries, ensuring data integrity, security and performance.Work closely with frontend and DevOps engineers to build, deploy and monitor production applications.Troubleshoot production issues and improve system latency, reliability and operational performance.Write automated tests and maintain clean, production-quality code.Take ownership of backend services while contributing across adjacent product areas when required.Use AI coding tools as part of the software development lifecycle to develop, investigate and validate changes.Work with product and AI teams where applications or agents need to interact safely with execution services.
Profile
3-10 years’ experience in backend software engineering.Experience within financial services, trading, trade execution or Order Management Systems (OMS) is preferred but not required.Strong hands on Python development experience.Strong experience building and supporting production HTTP APIs and production experience with PostgreSQL.Comfortable debugging complex production APIs and third party integrations.Strong understanding of reliability, performance and failure handling in production systems.Full stack, SRE/DevOps or AI application experience is advantageous.Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
