Mechanical Supervisor – Automated Conveytech

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and technically strong Conveyor / MHE Supervisor to supervise and coordinate technicians engaged in the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, testing, and commissioning of conveyor systems and associated material handling equipment.

The Supervisor will be responsible for day-to-day supervision of technicians, work allocation, technical guidance, site coordination, safety compliance, quality control, and timely completion of maintenance and project activities. The candidate should have strong hands-on knowledge of both electrical and mechanical conveyor systems and the ability to independently handle site-level technical issues.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and manage a team of Conveyor / Electromechanical Technicians during maintenance, installation, repair, and commissioning activities.

• Allocate daily work to technicians and monitor progress to ensure activities are completed within the required timeline.

• Provide technical guidance to technicians for troubleshooting and rectification of electrical and mechanical faults.

• Supervise preventive and corrective maintenance of conveyor systems and material handling equipment.

• Inspect and troubleshoot motors, gearboxes, bearings, rollers, belts, chains, sensors, control panels, VFDs, motor starters, limit switches, photoelectric sensors, and safety devices.

• Review and identify recurring equipment faults and recommend appropriate corrective actions.

• Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, equipment layouts, and technical documentation.

• Supervise installation, testing, alignment, adjustment, and commissioning of conveyor systems and related equipment.

• Ensure technicians follow approved maintenance procedures, method statements, and site requirements.

• Monitor the quality of completed maintenance and repair work before equipment is returned to operation.

• Coordinate with the client/site team regarding maintenance activities, breakdowns, access requirements, work schedules, and technical issues.

• Attend breakdowns and provide technical support for critical or complex equipment failures.

• Ensure minimum equipment downtime by coordinating technicians and prioritizing urgent maintenance activities.

• Conduct toolbox talks and ensure compliance with HSE, site safety procedures, PPE requirements, and permit-to-work requirements.

• Monitor tools, equipment, consumables, and spare parts required for maintenance activities.

• Identify required spare parts and coordinate with the concerned team for timely availability.

• Maintain daily work records, maintenance reports, breakdown reports, inspection reports, and service documentation.

• Review technicians’ service reports and ensure accurate documentation of completed activities.

• Prepare daily/weekly maintenance status reports and provide updates to management/client as required.

• Coordinate manpower requirements and ensure adequate technician coverage for planned and breakdown activities.

• Train and guide technicians on proper maintenance practices, troubleshooting procedures, and safe working methods.

• Ensure housekeeping and proper handling of tools, equipment, and spare parts at the work site.

• Support management during new equipment installation, modification, testing, and commissioning projects.
